Ingredients
- Tamarind 100 gm
- Sesame oil 30 ml
- Red Chilly 6 nos
- Fenugreek 1 Spoon
- Mustard 1 Spoon
- Turmeric 2 Pinches
- Salt To taste
- Coriander Seeds 20 gm
- Asafetida 2 Pinch
- Rice Quantity sufficient
Method
- To prepare tamarind rice (Puliyodanam), first a spicy paste of tamarind (Pulikaachal) has to be prepared
- Preparation of Pulikaachal-
- Soak tamarind in the warm water
- Squeeze the tamarind juice into a thick consistency
- Add turmeric powder, salt and roasted red chilly in it
- Season mustard, fenugreek and asafetida using sesame oil
- Add the tamarind paste into the seasoning
- After it starts boiling, add roasted and peeled ground nuts
- Then stir it continuously till it acquires a pastelike consistency
- Towards the end, add roasted coriander powder to it and mix well
- Now take the cooked rice in a widemouthed bowl
- Add 1 spoon of sesame oil
- Add 2 3 spoons of Pulikaachal to the rice
- Mix them well and serve
