Ingredients
- Tamarind – lemon size
- Rock salt – to taste
- Sambaar spice mix* – 3 spoons
- 1 chopped vegetable – 250 gm (drumstick, small onions, Brinjal, carrot, lady’s finger, knol-knol, chow-chow etc.)
- Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
- Thoor dal – 1 cup
- Mustard – 1 spoon
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Fenugreek – 1 spoon
- Urad dal – 1 spoon
- Sesame oil – 1 spoon
- Curry leaves - few
- Coriander leaves – few
Preparation
- Take tamarind and squeeze it in Water.
- Add salt and Sambaar spice mix powder to it.
- Add any one chopped vegetable to it.
- Let it boil till the vegetable is cooked.
- Then add cooked and smashed thoor dal to it.
- Mix well.
- Season it with, mustard, fenugreek, urad dal, asafoetida in sesame oil.
- Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves.
- Mix well and serve.
* Pepper – 1/4 part, coriander Seeds - 1 part, red chilly – ¾ parts, rice – 2 spoon, chickpea – ¼ part, few cumin seeds. All these powdered together is the sambar spice mix.
