Kicchari Pakvannam (Pongal)

Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Green gram -1/2 cup
  • Water - 15 cups
  • Ghee - 3 spoons
  • Pepper - 1 spoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teas spoon
  • Ginger - 1 piece
  • Asafetida - 2 pinches

Preparation

  • Cook the rice and green gram well in the water.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Season pepper, cumin seeds, asafetida and ginger using ghee.
  • Add it to the cooked rice-gram mix.
  • Mix well and serve hot.
