It takes a year for a coconut to fully mature, but since each coconut palm has new bunches blooming around 13 times a year - fresh green coconuts are available all the year round.

The fresh green coconuts are ones where the endosperm is the clear fresh water, which on maturity becomes the tasty white meat or kernel. A green coconut is ready to use for its water in 5 months, earlier will result in the water having a bitter tinge.

For stubborn acne make a paste by mixing 25 grams of turmeric paste with a glassful of coconut water, add 3 teaspoons of red sandalwood powder to this. Cover this and keep it aside for 2-3 day. Strain through a sieve and use it regularly as a face wash.

Another pack you can make for a healthy and radiant look is by adding coconut water to fuller’s earth (multani mitti) with a pinch of turmeric powder to make a paste. Apply evenly on the face and neck and wash gently after 20 minutes.

Coconut water used on a daily basis can lighten pockmarks and pits due to chicken pox or smallpox. Scars left due to acne will also smooth out after regular use.
