Causes
No one can explain the exact cause of acoustic neuroma or vestibular schwannoma. The doctors cannot explain why one person gets this disease and the other person doesn’t. Studies and researches are constantly trying to unravel the cause of this condition. So far age factor has been considered as one cause. It can occur in people of age group 30-60.
Cases of acoustic neuroma in patients with a family history of Neurofibromatosis Type 2 has also been seen and there seems to be a definite propensity with this condition.
