Diagnosis of Amnesia
There are no specific laboratory tests or any physical parameters that must be met with to confirm amnesia.
Amnesia diagnosis is carried out by using the following methods:
- In diagnosing amnesia and its cause, doctors look at several factors.
- Physical examination - The Doctor takes down details regarding recent illnesses or traumas and history of medications. The doctor also evaluates the patient's general health to assess the cause leading to amnesia.
- Neuro- psychological examination are sophisticated psychological tests conducted to determine the degree of amnesia and the extent to which it affects the person’s memory.

- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain is a scan done to determine the extent of brain damage.
- Blood tests are taken to rule out treatable metabolic causes or chemical imbalances.
