Glossary for Anemia in Pregnancy
Anemia- reduction below the normal level in the number of RBCs/hemoglobin.Fetal alcohol syndrome- syndrome of altered pre-natal growth, usually seen in infants born to chronically alcoholic mothers.
Hemoglobin- oxygen carrying pigment in the RBC.
Palpitation- sensation of rapid or irregular heartbeat.
Parenteral therapy- not by the oral route, but by injection mode.
Pre natal- before birth.
Post partum- after child birth.
Spina bifida- developmental anomaly seen in the fetus marked by defective closure of bony encasement of spinal cord.
