Calcium channel blocker: A type of medication which relieves high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina by interrupting the influx of calcium into the muscle of the heart and arteries, which is needed for contractionComputed Tomography: CT scan is an x-ray procedure enhanced by computer. Acne: A disorder of the skin marked by inflammation of oil glands and hair glands
Anti-inflammatory: Helps reduce inflammation
Calcification: Abnormal deposits of calcium and magnesium salts in the tissues
Calcium: A mineral found in bones and teeth
Connective tissue: Material that forms a framework that provides support structures for body tissues.
Magnesium: A mineral that is essential for many body functions including nerve impulse transmission, formation of bones and teeth and muscle contraction
Metastatic: Having to do with metastasis, which is the spread of cancer from one part of the body to another.
Osteomalacia: Another name given to rickets when it occurs in adults
Phosphorus: A mineral found in many foods including milk, milk products and meats. It is important for strong bones and teeth and proper nerve function
Psychosis: Mental disturbance of serious magnitude that may be characterized by loss of contact with reality, delusions and hallucinations are often present.
Scleroderma: A disease of the skin and connective tissue that can cause hair loss over affected areas.
Short wave diathermy: It is a device used in physiotherapy where the heat obtained from short wave diathermic current is used to relieve pain and muscle tension
Soft tissue: Refers to muscle, fat, fibrous tissue, blood vessels, or other non-bony supporting tissues of the body
Trauma: An injury (as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent
