Placenta: A flattened circular organ in the uterus of pregnant mammals that supplies oxygen and nutrients to the growing baby.Placental abruption: Separation of the placenta from the inner wall of the uterus before labor begins.
Villi: These are small, finger-like projections that extend into the lumen of the small intestine. Each villus is approximately 0.5-1.6 mm in length (in humans), and has many microvilli projecting from the enterocytes of its epithelium which collectively form the striated or brush border.
Chronic condition: A chronic condition is a health condition or disease that is persistent or otherwise long-lasting in its effects or a disease that comes with time.
Pregnancy: period of development of an embryo/fetus within the female reproductive system.
