Bariatric Surgery: A surgical procedure performed on obese people with the aim of weight reduction.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): A treatment in which hormones are supplemented to make up for reduced levels of naturally occurring hormones such as after menopause.

Menopause: A stage in a woman’s life (usually after 50 years of age) when the ovaries stop secreting the female sex hormones and lose their ability to produce the eggs or ova. This manifests in the form of permanent cessation of periods.

Neuropathy: Nerve damage that is characterized by tingling, numbness, and pain usually in the peripheral parts of the body such as the hands and feet.

Neutropenia: Decrease in the level of neutrophils in the blood.

Oral Contraceptives: These are oral pills that prevent the conception of the baby.

Wilson’s Disease: An inherited disease that causes excess accumulation of copper in various organs of the body.
