Diagnosis of Dandy Walker Syndrome
Dandy-Walker malformation is diagnosed with the help of ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
A diagnosis in pregnancy is possible by ultrasound as early as 12–14 weeks after conception. Later scans are more sensitive.
MRI is perhaps the most useful tool for diagnosis of DWS.
CT scans and plain radiographic imaging are also employed to get more details.
Amniocentesis, where foetal tissue is studied, is also offered.
