Symptoms & Signs of Diabetic Kidney Disease
In the early stages, Diabetic Kidney Disease or DKD often has no symptoms. As the disease progresses, one may experience symptoms such as -
Swelling-in the feet, ankles or legs
- Fatigue
- Frothing of the urine
- Nausea and vomiting
- Poor appetite
Swellings may be noticed in around the eyes (in the mornings) and various parts of the body. There is a weight gain from fluid buildup.
It is estimated that about 25 to 40 percent of patients with type-1 diabetes eventually develop diabetic nephropathy.
