Symptoms and Signs of Epidermolysis Bullosa
Symptoms of Epidermolysis Bullosa are usually due to blisters.
People born with epidermolysis bullosa have a very fragile skin that develops blisters in response to minor injuries. Rubbing the skin or applying pressure generates blisters and painful sores.
Development of blisters in or around the mouth and throat causes feeding problems. Swallowing is difficult.
Other symptoms and signs include:
- Hair loss (Alopecia)
- Dental problems like tooth decay Nail problems like nail loss and deformed nails Tiny white bumps or pimples called milia on the skin
Babies born with EB may present with hoarse cry, cough, or breathing problems.
