Types of Febrile Fits

Two types of febrile convulsions are described:

  • Simple, benign febrile fits
  • A typical febrile fits

The type of febrile fits decides the mode of treatment required for the patient and also helps to predict future attacks.

In simple febrile fits, the affected child does not develop any organic damage to his brain neither does he develop any side effects.

In a typical febrile fits, there might be a history of epilepsy in the family. In this category of children who develop atypical febrile fits, some organic damage may be observed.
