Diagnosis of Fibroids in Uterus
Diagnosis of uterine fibroids is made by bimanual pelvic examination. Often an irregular uterus is palpated out. A medical history is often suggestive.
Ultrasound - An abdominal, transvaginal or pelvic ultrasound helps to confirm the diagnosis of uterine fibroid. The number, size, and shape can be made out by imaging.
MRI - In cases where ultrasonography is inconclusive MRI scan is resorted to.
Biopsy - An endometrial biopsy may be performed. Here a sample of the tissue is taken for detailed study.
