Diagnosis
Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA) is diagnosed using imaging studies, biopsy and blood tests.
The following tests help to diagnose Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA):
- X – Rays: Chest x-rays help to diagnose if the disease has affected the lungs.
- CT scan: CT scan is used to diagnose the disease in the different organs
- Urine examination: Urine may show the presence of proteins, blood and sediments on laboratory examination if the kidneys are damaged.
- Biopsy of the affected organs such as lungs, kidneys and sinuses helps to diagnose the condition.
- Blood tests: Blood tests should include complete blood count, kidney function tests, ESR and tests for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) such as indirect immunoflorescence and ELISA.
