Causes
Some of the common causes of hyperventilation include-
- Stress / anxiety (hyperventilation syndrome)
- Taking many deep breaths
- Deep, rapid breathing
- Chest tightness/chest pain
- Lung diseases
- Stroke
- Head injury
- Metabolic acidosis (hyperventilation is compensatory)
- Excessive eating combined with lack of proper exercises
Keeping oneself overtly warm
Life-threatening conditions that are associated with deep breathing are:
- Heart / Lung / Nervous system problems
- Liver disorders
- Drug reactions
- Poisons
- Infections
- Pregnancy Labor
