Causes

Mononucleosis can be spread via saliva, mucus from the nose, throat and sometimes even through tears. Sharing toothbrush is another way of getting the infection. A kiss shared between an affected person and an unaffected individual is the most common factor for acquiring the infection. Other methods of transmission include

  • sharing utensils, glasses
  • or touching anything that has come in contact with the mouth of the infected person.
