Aspiration: A condition where food particles, liquids, saliva, or vomit can accidentally enter the respiratory tract, causing violent coughing and breathing difficulty.Cystic Fibrosis: An inherited disorder where the lungs and digestive system are affected. The disease can be potentially fatal.
Down Syndrome: A genetic defect where three copies of chromosome 21 (trisomy 21) are present instead of two, the normal number. This leads to retarded mental development.
Echocardiography: A non-invasive diagnostic technique that uses sound waves to create live pictures of the heart to detect any defects.
Enema: A procedure in which liquid or gas is injected into the rectum, to expel feces or deliver drugs or facilitate X-ray imaging.
Gastroschisis: A birth defect of the abdominal wall where the baby’s intestines are found outside of the body, protruding through a hole beside the navel.
Hirschsprung’s Disease: A condition of the large intestine that causes difficulty in the passage of stool.
Radiograph: Photographs taken by X-ray.
