Anastomosis: a surgical connection of any two tube like structures (e.g., blood vessel or intestine).

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass: the most common surgical weight loss procedure that decreases stomach volume and nutritionally bypasses the normal food stream.

Lithotripsy: Lithotripsy (extra corporeal shock waves or ESWL) – to break stone from outside using high energy focused sound waves. Extracorporeal (outside the body) shock waves are applied using a transducer on the skin. The waves break the stone up into small pieces for urinary passage.

Oxalate: a naturally occurring anion that combines with calcium and iron in the body to form salts. Normally excreted by the kidneys.
