Glossary

Polygenic: diseases/disorders caused by more than one gene.

Monogenic: diseases/disorders caused by a single gene.

Autosomal dominant: an abnormal gene inherited from one parent which leads to a genetic disease/disorder.

Autosomal recessive: where two copies of the abnormal gene are required for the offspring to present with a genetic disease/disorder.
