MRSA – The Super Bug - Mode of Transmission

Mode of Transmission

MRSA can be transmitted through skin- to -skin contact or through infected surfaces

There are two major methods by which MRSA is transmitted between people -

  • Physical skin –to- skin contact with an infected person or with a ‘carrier’ individual.
  • Coming in contact with MRSA on objects or surfaces such as athletic equipments, door handles, towels, sinks and floors that have been handled or touched by an infected person.

The infection is more likely to flare in people with cuts, abrasions or wounds or in persons with chronic skin conditions, such as psoriasis.
