Antibody: Antibody is a protein complex used by immune system to identify and neutralize foreign objects like bacteria and viruses. Each antibody recognizes a specific antigen unique to its target.Antibiotics: A drug used to treat infections caused by bacteria and other microorganisms.
Ascites: Abnormal buildup of fluid in the abdomen.
Conjunctivitis: Inflammation of the outer membrane of the eye.
Cytokines: A class of substances that are produced by cells of the immune system and can affect the immune response. Cytokines can also be produced in the laboratory by recombinant DNA technology and given to people to affect immune responses.
Inflammation: A response of redness, swelling, pain, and a feeling of heat in certain areas which is meant to protect tissues affected by injury or disease.
Kawasaki disease: A childhood disease causing fever, rash, skin peeling, swollen lymph nodes, and possibly complications of the heart and brain.
Steroid therapy: Treatment with corticosteroid drugs to reduce swelling, pain, and other symptoms of inflammation.
Mesentery: Fold in the abdominal lining that connects the intestine to the back of the abdominal wall; contains the arteries and veins that supply the intestines.
Infection: Invasion of the body by agents (bacteria, viruses or fungi) that cause disease or tissue damage.
