Self-Diagnosis of Orthorexia Nervosa
Find Out If you suffer from Orthorexia?
Here is a checklist you can use if you are potentially orthorexic or a full-blown victim!
- Are you very strict with your self when it comes to food?
- Does your self image depend on healthy eating?
- Do you look down on others who don’t eat this way?
- Do you spend more than three hours every day thinking about ‘right’, healthy food?
- Do you plan tomorrow’s meal today?
- Is what you eat more important than the pleasure you receive from eating it?
- Do you often resist foods you enjoy?
- Do your eating habits make it difficult for you to eat anywhere but at home?
- Do you feel guilty when you cheat on your diet?
- Do you feel in control when you eat the way you are ‘supposed’ to?
If you answered yes to three of these questions, you may have a mild case of orthorexia. Four or more means that you need to relax when it comes to food. If all these points apply to you, its time to take a deep breath: You have become obsessed with your diet, to an extent that is spilling over into other areas of your life.
