A: There is a clinical team of professionals who work for this. This includes: Orthotist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Physician, and Physical therapist.
Q: Who can benefit from orthotics?
A: There are no age restrictions. An infant with a club foot (CTEV in medical terminology), a 100 year old man with a paralysis: both may reap the benefit of orthotics. Let us not forget athletes! Frequent leg sprains, flat foot, gait abnormalities etc for example necessitate the use of lower limb orthoses.
Q: Are orthoses common to all?
A: No. Most are custom made orthoses depending upon the patient’s individual requirements.
Q: How expensive are they?
A: The cost will depend upon the type of appliance used, the material it is made of, the duration for which the patient needs to wear it etc.
