An afflicted person may initially feel like he is going to catch a cold.
Eventually a solitary, red-colored, scaly rash may appear on the stomach or on the back. This is referred to as a ‘herald patch’. If the patch shows up on the back it might resemble a Christmas tree.
Weeks later, smaller-sized spots may appear on other parts of the body. These lesions will develop along the cleavage lines.
The rash seen in individuals affected by pityriasis rosea can resemble the rash seen in ringworm, eczema, syphilis or psoriasis.
Sometime there may be a bout of widespread eruption of rash throughout the body. PR affects the back, chest, neck, abdomen, upper arms, and legs.
Physical activities, like jogging or a warm-water bath may cause the rash to aggravate.
The rash may fade away within two months time, but may sometimes last longer.
Sometimes other symptoms, like fatigue and aches, may bother the affected person
The affected individuals may experience excessive itching.
