Abortive poliomyelitis
This is a milder form of polio and is referred to as Minor Polio. About 4 to 8% of infected individuals develop minor polio symptoms. The brain and the spinal cord are unaffected. The onset of the symptoms occurs 3 to 5 days following viral infection. The symptoms are as follows- :
- General feeling of illness and discomfort
- Fever
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Lack of appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Constipation
- The symptoms disappear after 2 to 3 days resulting in complete recovery.
