Pre-Eclampsia - Glossary

Glossary :

Placenta - It is part of the fetus and supplies oxygen and nutrients to the growing baby.

Eclampsia - Seizures due to high blood pressure during pregnancy.

Pulmonary edema - Condition where fluid accumulates in lungs.

Hypertension - Increase in blood pressure.

Nausea - Vomiting sensation.

Thrombocytopenia - A condition in which there is an abnormally small number of platelets in the circulating blood.

Vasoconstrictors - Elements which cause narrowing of the blood vessels.

Vasospasm - Contraction of the muscular coats of the blood vessels.
