Glossary

Spirochete: Spiral shaped bacterial pathogen which can cause serious disease like syphilis, yaws, and relapsing fever

PCR: DNA cloning for sequencing, in the diagnosis of hereditary diseases; for forensic identifying of genetic fingerprints, for paternity testing and in detection and diagnosis of infectious diseases

Arthralgia: Pain in one or more joints.

Myocarditis: an inflammation of the middle layer of the heart that can be due to various causes that are infectious or inflammatory.

Neuropathy: A problem in any part of the nervous system except the brain and spinal cord. Neuropathies can be caused by infection, toxic substances, or disease.
