Incidence
REM Behavior Disorder (RBD) is a disease which is more common in elderly persons
Rapid eye movement behavior disorder found a mention for the first time in 1986.
Considered a rare disorder, the exact incidence and prevalence of REM Behavior Disorder (RBD) are unknown because of inadequate reporting and misdiagnosis.
However, a recent survey gives a prevalence of 0.5% of RBD in the general population.
RBD occurs predominantly in males. Typically, RBD affects older people.
The mean age of onset of this disorder is estimated to be around 60 years of age. In rare cases it could occur in childhood.
