Prognosis - Restless Legs Syndrome
Current therapies and lifestyle modifications can control Restless Legs Syndrome, minimize symptoms and increasing periods of restful sleep. Some patients have remissions - periods in which symptoms decrease or disappear for days, weeks, or months, although symptoms usually eventually reappear.
RLS is generally a lifelong condition for which there is no cure. The symptoms may come and go frequently or disappear completely for long periods of time. They may get worse over time.
RLS that occurs during pregnancy usually improves or disappears within a few weeks after delivery.
