What are the Symptoms of Spondylosis ?
Many milder cases cause no symptoms. The common symptoms are stiffness and tenderness in the neck, especially in the morning or after activity such as gardening or painting, pain can radiate to arms and shoulders and loss of sensation in shoulders, arms and legs.
Headaches particularly in the back of the head, and loss of balance buzzing in the ear can also be experienced.
In the more severe cases the pressure on the nerves result in irritation of the nerve. This leads to pain in the neck and arm, incardination in the movement of the limbs or numbness in the arm, forearm or fingers. Since neck is the gateway to a lot of nerves leading to various parts of the body, disturbances in the neck region can also affect functions in those areas, for e.g. there might be loss of bladder control due to pressure on the spinal cord. Further progression may even lead to severe impairment or paralysis.
