Symptoms of Clubfoot

The foot of the child with clubfoot is twisted inward with the toes pointing down.

Some of the common features of clubfoot include-

  • The heel is pointed away from the body and is drawn upwards.
  • The foot is twisted in towards the other foot.
  • The toes are pointed down.
  • Tightening of the Achilles tendon (the tendon that connects the calf muscle to the bone) is present.
  • The affected foot and leg will be stiff and smaller in size, when compared to a normal child.
  • The calf muscle may be smaller than normal and underdeveloped.
  • Lack of ankle joint motion may be present.
  • The affected foot may have a higher-than-normal arch.
