What are the Symptoms of Meningitis?
The symptoms of meningitis vary according to the age of the individual.
Adults - Usually the patient starts feeling unwell and develops:
- High fever with chills
- Neck rigidity (meningismus)
- Severe headache
- Sensitivity to bright light (photophobia)
- Drowsiness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Seizure.
Babies and infants:
- High fever
- Vomiting
- Refusing to feed
- High pitched crying
- A staring expression
- Neck stiffness
- Irritability
- Bulging fontanelles
