Other investigations
Ultrasound: A safe investigation done to doubly confirm the status of the pregnancy and also ensure the normal growth of the fetus.
Amnionic villi sampling: Done only in elderly women who are pregnant to rule out Downs syndrome. Sometime it is used to rule out other hereditary or congenital condition. However there is some risk associated with the procedure.
Genetic counseling: Genetic counseling is done to identify individuals with greater risk of producing children with any genetic abnormalities.
