Holter monitor: The Holter monitor is used to detect the electrical activity of the heart in a continuous manner for a period of 24 to 48 hours or even longer (as observed in newer monitors). This test is preferred to detect conditions such as palpitations, arrhythmias, among others.Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG): The recording of the electrical activity of the heart is called an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG).
Electrical activity of the heart: The electrical activity of the heart is basically an electrical stimulus that is generated by the sinus node of the heart and moves down through specialized tissues from the upper chambers (atria) to the lower chambers or ventricles of the heart.
Arrhythmia: Abnormality in the rate or rhythm of heartbeat.
