Disadvantages Of MRI

What are the disadvantages of the technique?

Till date, there has not been any disadvantage that has been documented.

However, some cases may require caution. MRI technique can induce ECG changes (alteration in the electrical activity of the heart) in patients. However, this is only short lived. None of the observed changes have been found to be clinically significant. Some patients also experience claustrophobia i.e. morbid fear of closed places.
