General examination of all systems of the body is an integral part of your every antenatal visit.
Obstetric examination:Â
Examination is done to find out regarding theÂ
- Nature of cervixÂ
- Position of the fetusÂ
- The proportion between the baby and the pelvic bones
Abdominal examinationÂ
The doctor palpates the bulge in your abdomen to determine the position of the baby and to know whether the head has descended prior to labor. Fundal height corresponding to the fetal growth is measured.
Fetal heart rate is measured by putting over your abdomen.Â
To assess fetal growth and decide as to whether labor has to be induced , you can be subjected to an ultrasound examination.
