Vitamin A: A substance used in cancer prevention; it belongs to the family of drugs called retinoids.Retinol: Vitamin A. It is essential for proper vision and healthy skin and mucous membranes. Retinol is being studied for cancer prevention; it belongs to the family of drugs called retinoids.
Retina: Light sensitive membrane at the back of the eye. Light is focused onto this membrane and the retina then transmits this information to the brain as impulses which the brain interprets as sight.
Macular degeneration: Gradual loss of vision due to deterioration of nerve tissue in the retina.
