Health Benefits of Cottage Cheese (Paneer) - Health Tips

Health Tips

  • Keep in mind that like most dairy products, cottage cheese can be very high in calories and fat. Although there is no truly fat free cottage cheese, make it a point to only use low fat cottage cheese. Low fat cottage cheese contains just 1% fat. This is especially important if you lead a sedentary lifestyle.
  • Always consume cottage cheese in moderation. If you burn fewer calories than you consume, you will find yourself gaining weight despite your efforts to lose it. Cottage cheese can make for a great snack, but don’t over indulge.
  • Cottage cheese can be used for tasty diabetic treats by simply sprinkling some cinnamon over it and adding a dash of honey. Keep in mind that honey will affect your blood sugar just as much as sugar, but you will not need to use much honey to sweeten your food, giving it an edge over sugar.
  • Ditch the cheese and mayo and instead use cottage cheese as a sandwich spread. If you don’t like the texture, put some cottage cheese in a blender to give it a better consistency, before using it. Using cottage cheese as a substitute will bring about a significant reduction in your intake of fat and more importantly saturated fat.
  • Similarly, you can use cottage cheese as a substitute for cheese and other cheese based sauces that are used in pastas and as pizza toppings. Cottage cheese will give you that creamy texture without cholesterol and heart blockages!
