Conclusion: Reduce, Refrain, and Restrict Sugar
Although a cutback in consumption of sugar is very much desired but an aggressive reduction in sugar intake is most called for if there is a family history of diabetes or cancer.
Lifestyle modifications here and there can reap huge results. For example:
- Switching to artificial sweeteners for daily tea, coffee, and other drinks.
- Consumption of sugar confectionery or sweets during the day and not just before bedtime.
- Chewing sugar-free gum to limit craving for sweets.
- Finishing meals with fruits rather than desserts.
- Not stocking on chocolates, biscuits, and other sugary stuff.
- Working out to burn those extra calories after every sinful indulgence.
- Most importantly, weaning out of sugar very slowly and not all of a sudden.
