Vitamin B-6 - Toxicity

Toxicity

Pyridoxine toxicity is manifested at very high doses of the vitamin of the order of 500 to 1000mg/day or even higher.

This dosage may trigger sensory nerve damage which may cause pain and numbness of the extremities. Surprisingly, women who are consuming only about 50 mg/day of vitamin B-6 for PMS have reported neurological symptoms. Another disadvantage is that it can also decrease the effectiveness of Levodopa, a medication used to treat Parkinson’s Disease.
