Insulin resistance: The diminished ability of cells to respond to the action of insulin in transporting glucose (sugar) from the bloodstream into muscle and other tissues.Obesity: Over weight.
Lactic acidosis: The build-up of lactic acid in the body. The cells make lactic acid when they use glucose (sugar) for energy. If too much lactic acid stays in the body, the balance tips and the person begins to feel ill. The signs of lactic acidosis are deep and rapid breathing, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Lactic acidosis may be caused by diabetic ketoacidosis or liver or kidney disease.
PCOS: The fully developed condition comprises hairiness, obesity, menstrual abnormalities, infertility and lumpy enlargement of the ovaries.
Glaucoma: A condition where abnormally high pressure of the fluid in the eye causes damage to the optic nerve, resulting in impaired vision and blindness.
