Glossary

Basal insulin: It is a long-acting insulin which covers the blood glucose release during the nights and in resting states. It enables optimal control of blood glucose levels.

Bolus insulin: It is a short-acting insulin taken before meals to regulate post-prandial blood glucose levels.

Insulin: It is a hormone produced by the cells in the islet of Langerhans in the pancreas. It regulates blood glucose levels in the body.

Post-prandial: It relates to after meal.
