Overview

Causes

Symptoms
- Irritation in eye
- Eye Burns
- Watering of the eye
Treatment
- Lay the person on the floor
- Keep eye lids open forcibly
- Use clean cold water to wash eyes gently
- Keep washing steadily for at least 20 minutes
- Rinse/wash hands thoroughly to remove chemical
- If wearing contact lens remove them
- Do not rub eyes
- Do not use eye drops until told
- Wear sunglasses to minimize irritation

Prevention
- If working with chemicals, wear protective face-mask
- Wear eye goggles whenever required
- Do not be careless with chemicals
- Store household chemicals safely
