Scheme and Eligibility
The CGHS beneficiaries can avail numerous benefits under the Central Government Health Scheme which is comprehensive in nature. This scheme is operational only in India, hence is valid for only Indian Government Employees.
This scheme is applicable to the following categories of people residing in CGHS covered cities:
- All Central Govt. Servants paid from Civil Estimates (other than those individuals employed in Railway Services, individuals employed under Delhi Administration except members of Delhi Police Force).
- Pensioners drawing pension from Civil Estimates and their family members – (Pensioner residing in non- CGHS areas also may obtain CGHS Card from nearest CGHS covered City)
- Honorable Members of Parliament
- Honorable Judges of Supreme Court of India
- Ex-Members of Parliament
- Employees & Pensioners of Autonomous Bodies covered under CGHS (Delhi)
- Ex-Governors and Ex-Vice Presidents
- Former Prime Ministers
- Former Judges of Honorable Supreme Court and Honorable High Courts of India
- Freedom Fighters
AGE LIMIT FOR DEPENDANT CHILDREN

(ii) | Daughter | Till she starts earning or gets married, irrespective of age limit, which ever is earlier |
(iii) | Son suffering from any Permanent disability Of any kind (physical/Mental) | Irrespective of age limit |
(iv) | Separated from their husband/widowed daughter and dependant divorced/Abandoned or dependant Unmarried /Divorced/Abandoned or Separated from their Husband/widowed sisters | Irrespective of age limit |
(v) | Minor Brother | Upto the age of becoming a major |
CGHS provides service through following categories of systems:
- Allopathic
- Indian System of Medicines e.g. AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga, Siddha and Homeopathy) Systems of Medicine.
