Interpreting the Results of Exercise Stress Test
The endurance of the heart to stress should be adequate for the age and conditioning level.
Heart rate increases in proportion to the workload. Abnormal results would be seen in:
- Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) during exercise
- Lack of aerobic fitness
- Coronary heart disease (coronary artery disease), i.e. disease of the heart’s intrinsic blood supply
- Stress on the heart triggered by exercise
