Genes As Hindrance

Genes As Hindrance

“Weight gain is not a genetic disorder rather it is a lifestyle disorder,” says famous dietician from Mumbai, Samreedhi Sharma. Your basic body structure may be genetic, but genes have a maximum 20 per cent effect, the rest is nothing but the unhealthy lifestyle that you have picked up from your unhealthy oversize parents. “Obesity has various diseases linked with it like- diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure and many more, so it is always better to be conscious about your weight,” adds Samreedhi. So broaden your concept of love. Think of eating and giving your children fruits, salads, soups instead of pampering them with an extra cube of butter on the already buttery parathas or even chocolates.

It is always good to get advice from somebody who has already set an example by losing a lot of weight through following a healthy lifestyle. Check out your role model’s exercise habits and follow it religiously. Eat at least four to five helpings of fruits and vegetables. Opt for whole grain pulses, dairy and stay miles away from sweets and fried stuffs. When you go out for eating choose your food intelligently. Say to yourself, “I eat to live, I don’t live to eat.” Develop new healthy eating and living habits. It is just the willingness and determination in you that will help you in losing weight.
