Glossary

Aceclofenac: It is an anti-inflammatory pain killer that falls within the category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID).

Diclofenac: It is a NSAID that is used to relieve pain and inflammation.

ECG: This is the abbreviated form for electrocardiogram or electrocardiography, which measures the electrical activity of the heart.

Nimesulide: It is a NSAID that is used to relieve pain and inflammation.

Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): This is a class of drugs that reduce pain, decrease fever, and, at higher doses, decrease inflammation, but they are not steroids.

Opioids: These are drugs that have their origin from opium and act on opioid receptors to produce morphine-like effects. In case of osteotomy, opioids are used to relieve pain.

Osteoarthritis: This is a type of arthritis that occurs when flexible tissue such as cartilage at the ends of bones wears away.

Paracetamol: It is an analgesic (relieves pain) and antipyretic (relieves fever).
