Parotid glands: Salivary glands near the ears that open into the cheeks.Parotidectomy: Surgical removal of the parotid glands.
Abscess: A localized collection of pus surrounded by inflamed tissue.
Inflammation: A response of redness, swelling, pain, and a feeling of heat in certain areas which is meant to protect tissues affected by injury or disease.
Infection: Invasion of the body by agents (bacteria, viruses or fungi) that cause disease or tissue damage.
Sialadenitis: Salivary gland infection.
Fascia: Sheet of thick-fibrous tissue beneath the skin. Fascia also encloses muscles and other structures.
Anesthesia: Loss of sensation resulting from the administration of certain drugs or gases.
Sialocele: A sialocele is a localized, subcutaneous cavity containing saliva.
